069 Watercolour dirty water jar - part I - oil on linen

Throughout the six years and 69 days of Dan Young, Daily I have forced myself to make a painting, drawing or print every day. Today I am starting a painting in a more 'normal' manner. So here you can see me fumbling around trying to get some marks in about the right place to paint my dirty watercolour  jar. Tomorrow I will continue with this painting and who knows I might finish it... Or I might not. That is the way with paintings sometimes. The little buggers don't always get finished in one sitting!

This has been my water jar since I was a student. It was in an old student house and was used by a previous tenant to store all of her old bits of soap, it took some time to get rid of the fragrance... But I think it makes a rather swanky pot to rinse my water.

068 Tube of red paint

A wonderful, if nearly empty, tube of delicious cadmium red. Possibly the main inspiration for this years year of red paintings. This composite painting is going to take a pause for a while, I might have finished it I might not have but I need to get away from it. And I make the rules for Dan Young, Daily so I can do whatever I want. As long as it is red.

And yes I will try and get a decent photo of this painting soon because it isn't very clear...

067 Chilli Pepper

On a cold wintry day such as this I like to think of sunnier times and places. The sorts of times and places that might grow chilli peppers!

065 Red Bowl

This is my favourite piece of ceramic ever and was given to me by world renowned, internationally  collected artist, and m'(ex)colleague Jeff Powell. I use it to keep all sorts of things in from fruit to invoices..... I prefer to keep it empty because, well, it's red. It is currently banished from our main living spaces due to puppy craziness so it currently has a red wind up lobster in it. Now that is a painting that might happen....

064 ibuprofen

As you know when I feel poorly I tend to find 'easier' objects to paint. 'Fortunately' our ibuprofen tablets are red...

056 Dog Collar

This is our dogs collar, bottom right, which I had to move up a notch today because she is getting bigger (because she is a puppy not because we are over feeding her!)

055 Red Drawing pin

I don't think any of you realise just. How dangerous this painting is..... Because it on bare linen if I make a mistake or spill paint (like I just did) it might ruin the whole thing. I saved it though!

053 Red check shirt

This painting is fast becoming a little catalogue of my red stuff..... And is turning into a precursor to a bigger painting... More soon.

052 Red t shirt

I only have one more item of red clothing to include in this red deluge painting. A red check shirt, sadly no red trousers.....

Tuesday 13 January 2015

051 Red shirt

Red shirt, I think I get away with wearing a red shirt because of my green eyes. It just wouldn't work if I had red eyes.

045 Red Pencil #jesuischarlie
